Miles for Memories
A fundraising campaign by MISS - Miscarriage Support
Pregnancy loss affects thousands of families across Scotland, yet trauma and stigma can leave many people feeling unable to speak about their experiences. MISS provides compassionate, confidential support to those affected, including one-to-one support, memory boxes, support groups and memorial spaces.
Miles for Memories was created by MISS as an accessible fundraising challenge that could bring people together while generating vital income for these services. Participants were invited to choose one month between March and June and commit to walking, running, cycling or swimming. They could set a distance that suited their own circumstances, making the campaign open to people of different ages and abilities, whether or not they had personal experience of pregnancy loss.
SCOPE
Graphic design, fundraising advisory, email marketing, media management
The campaign combined a clear fundraising purpose with a positive and inclusive call to action. Rather than asking people to complete a fixed-distance event on a particular day, Miles for Memories gave every participant the freedom to choose their activity, set their own target and take part wherever they lived.
MISS led and delivered the campaign. Our role was focused on three specific areas: graphic design, fundraising advice and email marketing.
We created a distinctive visual treatment that brought the campaign’s four activities together under one identity, supported by imagery and individual icons for walking, running, cycling and swimming. The design was intended to feel active and uplifting while remaining sensitive to the deeply personal experiences at the heart of MISS’s work.
Alongside the creative work, we advised the MISS team on the campaign’s fundraising approach and supported its launch through email marketing. The campaign email introduced the challenge, explained how participation would help sustain MISS’s free services and directed supporters to learn more and sign up.
Miles for Memories gave MISS a flexible campaign platform through which its community could move more, raise funds and demonstrate solidarity with everyone affected by pregnancy loss.
