JASS is a programme for achievement administered by FOTA (Friends of the Award), aiming to help young people in the transition from primary to secondary school.

Having launched in 2010, JASS found its flagship product — the JASS Achievement File, essentially a ring-binder with worksheet inserts — too cumbersome for students, and too costly for schools. It needed to find a solution that retained the content of the original but in a smaller package.

We designed the JASS Participant Record Book as the ring-binder’s successor. With a modern, cleaner look, the book is optimised so that scheme participants can use it across all 8 levels of award, vastly reducing printing costs. Colourful circular motifs throughout ask, ‘what’s in your orbit?’, as JASS aims to be less prescriptive than other award schemes. A 3D layering effect also evokes the various organisations coming together to facilitate children’s learning and development. Our design is mirrored on the e-JASS platform, as well as the JASS website, where participating schools can purchase the new book.
