Ciaran’s Counselling & Therapy

Starting a business is hard enough without starting at a disadvantage. When Celine O’Connor launched Ciaran’s Counselling & Therapy in Clydebank, we wanted to give her more than a logo and a website. We wanted to create a strong, credible brand and put the digital infrastructure in place to make it as easy as possible for people to become clients.

Ciaran’s is a new counselling and psychotherapy practice built around a simple principle: every person who walks through the door is an individual. Celine’s approach is warm, personal and free from assumptions or labels, drawing on more than 20 years of experience working in and around mental health.

Making it easier to take the first step

For someone considering counselling, getting in touch can already feel like a big step. The last thing they need is an unnecessarily complicated booking process.

Yet many counselling websites still require prospective clients to make contact, wait for a response, exchange emails about availability and then arrange payment separately.

We built Ciaran’s differently.

Clients can see Celine’s availability, choose an appointment, book and pay online before they attend. They can also book a free introductory phone call if they would prefer to speak to Celine before deciding whether counselling is right for them.

It is straightforward functionality, but increasingly it is what people expect when buying or booking almost any service online. For Ciaran’s, it means fewer barriers between someone deciding they would like support and actually getting it.

It also gives Celine a system that handles much of the administration behind appointments automatically, leaving her to concentrate on her clients and growing the practice.

A brand built around the person

Technology was only one part of the project.

Ciaran’s Counselling & Therapy is named after Celine’s son, Ciaran, whose loss played an important part in her decision to become a counsellor. That meant creating a brand that was personal and meaningful without allowing a difficult story to overwhelm the people coming to Celine for support.

We developed an identity and tone of voice built around warmth, openness and individuality. Counselling can be full of terminology and categories; Celine was determined that her communications should never make somebody feel as though they were being reduced to a label or put into a box.

The result is a brand that sounds like Celine and a website designed to make people feel comfortable from their first visit.

Helping startups start stronger

We work with established organisations, but we’re equally committed to ambitious people at the beginning of their business journey.

Ciaran’s is a great example of why.

In a digital-first world, a startup’s website, brand and systems are not things to worry about once the business becomes successful. Done properly, they can help create that success.

Investing in the right foundations from the outset means Ciaran’s launches with a professional identity, a clear proposition and a digital booking and payment system ready to turn interest into appointments.

For a small business, that can make a very big difference.

Chris, James and the team at TMD guided me through the entire set up for my website, from the branding, the colours, to the layout of the pages. More importantly - they listened to what is important for me as a counsellor when working with vulnerable clients.

What they have created is a non-clinical, non-judgemental and easy to navigate website with an excellent booking system that is user friendly and also easy for me to work with. It has been an absolute pleasure working with the team at TMD.
