Chris is a seasoned marketing professional with over 20 years’ experience building and growing brands. As Founder and CEO of The Marketing Department, he leads the strategic direction of client work while also overseeing all content production, ensuring that messaging, storytelling and execution are aligned to deliver measurable results.

Prior to founding the business in 2015, Chris worked in promoting the renewable energy sector, helping to grow membership and engagement within a rapidly evolving industry. This foundation continues to inform his work today, where he delivers complex, multi-channel campaigns for an international client base, with a particular focus on environmental impact, net zero and positioning Scotland as a leader in carbon neutral solutions.

Chris is also an experienced event director, having led the development, marketing and delivery of high-profile events including DeCarbScotland, now the flagship annual gathering for the industrial decarbonisation sector. He is known for ensuring that events deliver not just strong delegate experiences, but clear financial returns and long-term strategic value.

Alongside his role at TMD, Chris previously served as Chair of Stepping Stones for Families, following a rebrand led by the agency in 2017. Outside of work, he is a keen writer, photographer and walker.
