The Scottish Council for Development and Industry (SCDI) is an independent membership network founded in 1931. It represents private, public and social economy sectors, seeking to influence government to ensure sustainable and inclusive economic growth.

SCDI found that member engagement with its communications strategy was flagging, and sought an agency to help break the impasse. This was of utmost importance as SCDI is funded by member subscriptions.

Our involvement with SCDI began with a series of newsletter and email campaigns, and grew to include design and videography. Selected projects are featured below.

SCDI Forum 2019 — We delivered videography for this annual event, which brings in prominent speakers to discuss industrial strategy and unlocking Scottish innovation.

Annual Report 2018-19 — We designed SCDI’s Annual Report, centring imagery of the range of people SCDI engages, from industry leaders to broadcasters to policymakers.

Upskilling Scotland Report 2020 — We designed this report in conjunction with Skills Development Scotland. It discusses the so-called fourth industrial revolution and how employers must adapt. We incorporated a variety of graphs, graphics and iconography to evoke ideas of work and industry, and make an interesting read equally visually pleasing.

Membership Brochure — We designed this brochure which looks to onboard new SCDI members. It takes design elements from the existing SCDI brand, and adds a new triangle motif to represent joining of public, private and third sectors. The triangles together make up a map of Scotland, and this design idea was carried over to other SCDI assets.

Events Brochure 2019 — Our design for the Events Brochure integrates the same triangle motif found on the Membership Brochure, however an altered colour scheme is used to make the brochures ‘consistent but different’.
