Stepping Stones for Families is Looking for a new Chair

Christopher Graham
Founder + Chief Executive Officer of The Marketing Department
Chair of Stepping Stones for Families

In November I will be stepping down as the Chair of Stepping Stones for Families. It has been an indescribable honour to serve in this role, and as the end draws near, it seems almost incomprehensible that my relationship with this incredible organisation started in 2016 with a conversation about “some help with social media.”

Some help with social media became a new website, and a new website became a full rebrand, and a full rebrand became an invitation to join the board once the project was complete, and that has been one of the best positions I have ever held.

In the years that have flown by, I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside some incredibly passionate and dedicated individuals who are committed to making a difference in the lives of vulnerable families in our community. The work that the charity undertakes is challenging, but it is also incredibly rewarding. Seeing the impact that our services have on the families we serve is truly humbling.

As I prepare to step down as Chair, I am confident that Stepping Stones for Families will continue to thrive. I was elected Chair in late January 2020 and while I knew there would be challenges, there was no way to know that I wouldn’t see any of my colleagues again in person for nearly two years. I came to the Chair role with plans and ideas, all of which took a backseat as my colleagues and I focused on one thing: survival.

And while we are still feeling the after-effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, and some very tough choices have had to be made, the charity has survived when so many others haven’t. This is not down to me as chair, but to the collective leadership of the board, senior management, and our brilliant service delivery teams who are some of the hardest working people I have ever met.

With only a few months to go until I depart, the charity is looking for a new Chair. If you’re interested in using your skills, experience and drive to provide the leadership and drive needed for the charity to achieve its vision of a positive future for children, young people and families, then this might be the job for you.

I know the charity will go from strength to strength, and while I will no longer be on the board, The Marketing Department will continue to support Stepping Stones for Families on a pro bono basis until at least the end of 2024.
