Client News: GCA Celebrates 60 Years of Support, Launches “Memory Box”
This year marks a massive milestone for one of our newest clients, the Glasgow Council on Alcohol (GCA), as they celebrate 60 years of supporting people affected by alcohol and drug-related harms.
Since 1965, GCA has directly helped more than 200,000 people across greater Glasgow, and touched the lives of many more.

To commemorate their 60th, GCA has launched their “Memory Box”, a project that invites clients, volunteers, staff, and old friends to share their stories and memories of the charity. This could be a memorable moment from ‘the early days’, a note of thanks, or a reflection on GCA’s lasting impacts.
It’s hoped that these contributions to the Memory Box will help paint a full picture of the role the charity has played over the decades — and continues to play, as Scotland faces an alcohol crisis.
In light of alarming alcohol death figures – the highest in 15 years – GCA continues to innovate. With their 110-strong team of staff and volunteers, the charity now provides counselling, employability programmes, wellbeing sessions, and specialised interventions for minoritized groups. In 2024 alone, they helped over 12,400 people.
We’re incredibly proud to be working with GCA as they boldly look to the future. Submissions to their Memory Box can be made via the GCA website, and select stories will be shared on social media and at a special celebration this November at Glasgow City Chambers.
Big things coming!
